About this Event

The Romanian Cultural Institute in London presents Thursday, February 9, 2023, 7PM, a piano recital by Cristian Sandrin, a young Romanian pianist based in Great Britain.

Cristian graduated in 2019 with a doctoral degree from the prestigious Royal Academy of Music. He gave his debut recital at the Wigmore Hall, but also gave concerts on other London stages such as St-Martin-in-the-Fields, the National Liberal Club, St James Piccadilly, the Masonic Temple in London and the Queen Elizabeth Hall. Between 2018 and 2020, Cristian was invited to give recitals and concerts with the orchestra in the concert tour in all corners of the British Isles, as part of the artistic program offered by the Countess of Munster Recital Scheme. Among other important European stages are Salle Cortot in Paris, La Fenice Theater in Venice, Palazzo Montepulciano in Italy, Leipzig Hochschule, Salla Manuel de Falla in Madrid, Philharmonic Hall in Sofia and last but not least on the stage of the prestigious Romanian Athenaeum. Cristian was invited to participate in the International Piano Festival in Naarden, Holland, the Eifel Musicale festival in Germany and the KamerArt Festival in Romania. Recently, Cristian performed the Goldberg Variations at Sala Radio in Bucharest, the concert being broadcast live on European radio stations.

Cristian is currently preparing the release of his debut CD with piano pieces composed by George Enescu, Maurice Ravel and Cyril Scott.

The piano recital offers the opportunity to discover the Romanian composer Enescu and the performance of a young man recognized as part of the international elite of the young generation of pianists.

The program of the evening includes sonnets, suites and sonatas, musical works of famous composers such as L. van Beethoven, F. Liszt, Fr. Chopin or G. Enescu and is proposed by the pianist himself who chose to present to the music-loving audience romantic works.

The event is a special one, being the first concert of the 2023 season, in the Enescu Concerts Series, and will take place at the RCI headquarters in 1 Belgrave Square.
