Pianist Tyler Hay: Beethoven, Czerny and Liszt
About this Event
A clear favourite with our audience, he weaves a total command of the instrument with a deeply inquisitive mind, a curiosity for rare repertoire and a rare gift of communication.
His programme opens with Beethoven’s lyrical Sonata Op. 78, followed by the Sonata Op. 13 of his remarkable pupil Carl Czerny. The second half moves to Liszt, whose imagination ranges here from the infernal to the celestial: the demonic Mephisto Waltz, the angelic St Francis of Assisi, and Après une lecture du Dante, with its vision of hell and paradise.
This will be an evening that offers both virtuoso brilliance and the intimacy of a pianist who knows how to involve his audience in the music.
