Pi Jacobs“..a sultry, feminine, outlaw kind of sound” American Songwriter
Singer songwriter Pi Jacobs draws inspiration from her unconventional upbringing in Northern California, where she was raised by “hippies, bohemians and nerds”. She began singing at age 3 and playing guitar at age 11. She signed her first record deal in 2001 and began the process of growing into the singer-songwriter she is today by releasing nine studio albums, via four different record labels. She is currently signed to LA’s Blackbird Record Label, and her next album, “Soldier On” will be out in April 2024. Produced by Eric Corne (John Mayall, Sam Morrow, Jaime Wyatt), The album features Pi’s long-time collaborators Buch Norton (Lucinda Williams, Eels, Tracy Chapman) and Zack and Adam Hall (Billy Ray Cyrus).
Pi’s style blends roots-rock swagger and storytelling soul, that has drawn comparisons to Tom Waits, Dolly Parton, and Lucinda Williams. She performs solo, as a trio, and with a full band.
Solo, armed with an old Gibson guitar, her “sultry” (Claremont Courier) and “explosive” (Glide) voice, and a homemade stomp box, she creates a show that is a “mesmerizing” (Americana Highways).
Her trio features the multi-talented identical twins, The Hall Brothers, who hail from Marion Virginia, on dobro, upright bass, and harmony vocals, respectively. Her full band includes drummer to the stars, Butch Norton. In each of these configurations, Pi delivers. In the words of San Luis Obispo’s New Times, “Jacobs’ can be funny, poignant, and irreverent, but always personal. She might not heal you, but you’ll forget your problems for a few hours” (G. Starkey).
Pi’s music has been heard on NPR, DittyTV, Austin Music TV, Americana Highways, American Songwriter Magazine, and regularly on radio tastemakers KCSN and WFUV, as well as stations across the nation.

Babilonia (Celia Chavez)
"We’re immediately struck by the quality of Celia Chavez’s voice…On her own skillfully produced solo recordings (AC acoustic rock material, tight supportive band) her rich, resonant tones convey her introspective lyrics perfectly." — Music Connection Magazine
Spreading her wings and stepping outside the gilded cage of her life as a globetrotting backup singer, Celia Chavez has taken a brand new moniker, Babilonia, and released her new EP, If I Ever Think To Double Back, in 2023. Braiding together strands of music she’s lived and loved from her parents’ jazz and soul records back in her hometown of Seattle, to the vibrant scene of New York City’s Lower East Side, to the songcraft capital of Laurel Canyon in Los Angeles, Chavez takes her place at the front of her own formidable studio band (with Lucinda Williams’ rhythm section of David Sutton and Butch Norton) as a compelling, independent singer-songwriter.
The name Babilonia (her maternal grandmother’s) has always held mystique for Chavez, along with its origin linked to the city of Babel, where legend says the peoples of the world were scattered and human speech fractured into many languages. “This project calls home all the voices I have summoned while in service to so many distinctive artists. Babilonia contains all my vulnerability and power, joy and imperfection. It also gives me a new creative center, a fresh universe to expand into.”
Following a decade plus of steady touring and recording (P!nk, Melody Gardot, Julia Fordham, Enrique Iglesias and reggae legend Burning Spear) followed by time grounded at home in the years since 2020, Chavez gathered fresh perspective and courage to create something bold, authentic and deeply personal. Written during a painful two year break from her life partner, If I Ever Think to Double Back is a record of liberation against a backdrop of deep cultural change.
Babilonia — guided by producer Jeremy Little — found a sonic, lyrical language to explore tenacious buoyancy in the face of complex grief. Reclaiming and harmonizing the parts of herself she had been lending to other people’s music for so many years, Babilonia resists melancholy and embraces bittersweetness through a vibrant current of energy that becomes, song by song, an arrival to a place of wholeness and peace.
