The music of Phish is unique in the space of popular music. Here at PHUN hq we try to approach that music with the care and respect it deserves. And that means that while there are incredibly difficult passages of Phish’s music that need to be nailed down, we attempt to use our own voices when it’s time to improvise. Because it’s what the music demands.
Guitarist and Vocalist Mike Scieszinski founded PHUN in 2009. Fourteen years later, the band is still Sharin’ in the Groove!
The band has a colorful and extensive musical Phish-story. In 2014 the band created a touring production of the Phish Musical Gamehendge (The Man who Stepped into Yesterday). They host an Annual holiday event in Madison called Hippy X-mas, and each year wear a “Musical Costume” and tribute a different band (that isn’t Phish). Past performances have included the music of Pink Floyd, Grateful Dead, Prince, Tom Petty, David Bowe and Widespread Panic.
the band first appeared at Summerfest in 2019 opening for Dead tribute veterans Dark Star Orchestra at the BMO Pavillion, and returned to that stage for Summerfest 2022. In 2023 the band shared the Miller Lite Oasis stage with Joe Russo’s Almost Dead. The band are regulars at High Noon Saloon in Madison and Shank Hall in Milwaukee. Dream Setlist weddings, Corporate Gigs, Private Parties and festivals; PHUN has been around the block, Spreading the gospel according to Fishman far and wide, but offering phans a cheaper and smaller alternative venue in which to celebrate it.
