PhotoFest | Guided Photowalk at the Ballard Locks with Sony

Start your Sunday morning with cameras, creativity, and the unique scenery of Seattle’s iconic alongside Sony’s Dan Hawk and Reza Malayeri. From boats passing through the locks and reflections on the water to textured industrial details and candid moments along the pathways, this guided photowalk is a chance to slow down, explore, and sharpen your eye with two experienced Sony creatives.

Along the way, Dan and Reza will share tips on composition, autofocus techniques, working with changing light, and finding compelling moments in a constantly moving environment. Whether you’re looking to test out Sony gear, build confidence behind the camera, or simply enjoy a relaxed morning of shooting with fellow photographers, this walk is designed to inspire.

We will meet as a group just inside the North Gate which is near the Visitor Center.

We are excited for our annual PhotoFest full of presentations, workshops, and demonstrations from some of the most talented creative artists in their field, all FREE of charge.

Now in its 17th year, PhotoFest continues to exceed our wildest expectations. The three-day event includes a broad spectrum of on-location shoots, studio settings, photowalks, lectures, and product demonstrations. It gives a larger purpose to reconnect not only to our art, but to each other. Image-making and visual storytelling capture moments that are fleeting, but the relationships we build along the way endure.
