PhotoFest | Architecture & Street Photography Photowalk with Pentax & Ricoh

Join us for a creative photowalk from Glazer's Camera to Amazon's iconic Spheres, exploring the urban architecture and street photography opportunities that make South Lake Union one of Seattle's most visually dynamic neighborhoods.

Starting at 1pm, this is less about instruction and more about community — a chance to try out Pentax and Ricoh loaner gear, see a familiar part of the city through fresh eyes, and spend an afternoon alongside fellow photo enthusiasts who share your love of the urban landscape. From the texture of the streets to the soaring curves of the Spheres, there's no shortage of compelling frames waiting to be discovered. All skill levels welcome — come ready to explore, connect, and shoot.

Pentax & Ricoh Representative Shelley Preston will be on hand with a limited selection of cameras and lenses available to borrow and try during the walk. Gear is limited in quantity and available exclusively for registered attendees. Please bring a roll of film or memory card, along with valid identification, for gear checkout.

All camera systems and skill levels are welcome—just bring your camera, comfortable walking shoes, and your curiosity. Sometimes the best shots happen somewhere between the destination and the conversations along the way. The content and techniques discussed throughout the walk are brand-agnostic and applicable to any camera system.

Outside of Glazer’s Camera on 811 Republican St, Seattle, WA 98109

What to Bring:

• A camera
• A wide angle/zoom lens
• If you plan to borrow a GRIV, bring your own Micro SD card
• If you plan to borrow a GRIIIx, bring your own SD card.
• If you plan to borrow a Pentax 17, bring your preferred roll of film.
• Layers and comfy walking shoes
• Rain cover (optional, depending on weather)

While all PhotoFest events are free, registration is required to attend. Due to limited capacity at each venue, entry is granted on a first-come, served basis.

ABOUT SHELLEY PRESTON

Shelley Preston is a Regional Account Manager for Ricoh Imaging, the company behind the iconic Pentax brand - known for its cult-favorite GR cameras beloved by street photographers, and now, bringing film back into focus with the Pentax 17. She’s been hooked on photography since the days of one-hour photo labs and her first trusty point-and-shoot. While black and white photography will always be her first love, she still finds herself happily chasing color through every frame.

When she’s not slinging cameras or shooting film, she’s painting large abstract canvases or gaming with her spouse in Austin, Texas. They share their home with a giant goldendoodle named Roxy, who answers to many names, especially T-Rox and Dino-Dog (because, frankly, she might be part dinosaur). Shelley holds a BA from Texas Tech University and a lifetime membership in the “I Shoot Film” club.

Now in its 17th year, PhotoFest continues to exceed our wildest expectations. The three-day event includes a broad spectrum of on-location shoots, studio settings, photowalks, lectures, and product demonstrations. It gives a larger purpose to reconnect not only to our art, but to each other. Image-making and visual storytelling capture moments that are fleeting, but the relationships we build along the way endure.
