Photo-lithography combines the printing process of traditional stone lithography with digital outputs. Instead of drawing directly onto limestone, artists can use photographs, digital images, or drawings to create a matrix on a light-sensitive aluminum plate. Participants will learn how to create digital outputs for photo-lithography, expose and develop their plate, and hand print their image using a lithography press. This workshop is perfect for anyone interested in combining photography and printmaking.
Note: Bringing in a laptop with Photoshop installed is recommended but not required.

About the Instructor: Heather J. A. Thomson's practice amalgamates her passion for history with her desire to communicate through a visual language. She believes that conversations about the past inspire reflection on the present, prompt us to question our values, and can encourage the adoption of historical methodologies in pursuit of a more sustainable future. Thomson received her BA from the University of Guelph in 2017 and was awarded the 2017–2018 Don Phillips Scholarship at Open Studio, Toronto. She provided technical assistance at OCAD University from 2019 to 2023 and is currently an Instructor and Custom Printer at Open Studio.
