About this Event
On November 1st, we'll gather at Bildband Berlin for a lovely afternoon of discussion about photobooks.
Event theme:
What role does color play in shaping how we experience photographs? This session looks at photobooks where color isn’t just a surface detail but a key part of how the work communicates. We’ll focus on how artists use color to build atmosphere, direct attention, and shape meaning—sometimes in ways that are subtle, and sometimes in ways that completely transform how we read an image.
We’ll talk about different strategies: when color enhances a subject, when it’s pushed to extremes, and when it’s deliberately taken away. How do these choices influence what we feel or understand about a photograph?
This session will be centered on photobooks that actively engage with color. We won’t focus on black-and-white work this time (that will be a separate discussion), although of course happy to include discussion about it when relevant!

Please take note of our event rules:
- If you sign up and need to cancel, please do so at least 24 hours in advance.
- Bringing a book is encouraged but not required. We’ll be discussing books that participants bring, and there are books available at Bildband if you’d like to use one for our chat. Additionally, feel free to share a book found online if you don’t have a physical copy.
- Jump in and share your thoughts—this event's all about participation, not a lecture. We’re here for open discussion, so expect to get involved!
- It’s also a no-promo zone. We want a safe space for artists, creators, and photo book lovers to connect, so please don’t pitch or promote your own work here. Feel free to share personal insights respectfully, but keep the focus on discussion, not self-promotion.
