• Envelop SF is a pioneering immersive listening space that allows you to experience sound like never before.
• No vaccination or mask is required to attend, which is aligned with SF health guidance.
• Our events are low capacity by design, and tickets can sell out quickly. We encourage you to make your purchase ahead of time so we don’t miss you.
• Envelop SF is a shoeless venue. We want you to be as comfortable as possible, and this helps us keep the space extra clean for everyone.
• You can find us easily. Envelop SF is within The Midway at 900 Marin St, SF, CA. Enter from the Michigan St side of the building through the patio.
• A cash bar for wine, beer, and tea is available. No outside drinks are allowed.
• No admittance into Envelop SF beyond 15 mins after start time. The main gate will be closed. Arriving late disrupts the listening. Please arrive before the event begins.
• Please avoid in's and out's during listening events to respect everyone's experience.
• Listening events are seated, dance parties are not. This event's seating map is below the description. We have a comfortable space waiting for you.
• Please no phones while listening, and please silence your ringer. We encourage you to take photos before and after the event.

Join us for a special live performance by Photay in Envelop SF! Experience Photay’s creativity like never before within this immersive performance of both ambient and beat-driven tracks. Feel his signature polyrhythms, syncopation and texture within Envelop SF’s 32 speakers of full-spectrum spatial sound.

From the perspective of people who categorize music by genres and types, Evan Shornstein, better-known under his production moniker Photay, has created lots of different kinds of sounds over the past decade. There’s the Hudson Valley-raised, Los Angeles-based multi-instrumentalist composer’s quasi-IDM and electronic almost-pop tracks with the occasional vocal; the improvised organic and and experimental music sessions he participates in alongside new age giants, Laraaji and Carlos Niño; the diaspora electronic folk-jazz he makes with veteran musicians from all over the globe; and the disco and house adjacent records he tag-team DJs with Brooklyn producer Cesar Toribio and engineer Phil Moffa (who also masters all of Photay’s records — and those of dance-music dons around the world). But if you’ve listened closely to Shornstein’s prodigious output, you know that separating and classifying the work is actually contrary to the energy of Photay music. That what on-the-surface may lazily appear as differences, is actually brought together by a shared sonic warmth, a hardware pastoralism at play. Whatever category he engages, Photay makes outdoor music under the spell of the elements, for the purpose of different human movements — some physical, some spiritual, some emotional, some philosophical.
