Phil Manzanera is a legendary musician, songwriter and producer, best known as the lead guitarist for Roxy Music, who were among the seventies' and early eighties' most successful groups. Led by Bryan Ferry, they achieved eighteen UK top 40 hit singles and eighteen top 40 albums, too, including best of compilations. Their famous songs include Love is the Drug, Dance Away, Virginia Plain, Angel Eyes, Over You and Avalon. He joined them in 1972, after his previous group, Quiet Sun broke up. Five years-ago, Roxy Music were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The legendary group reunited, first in 2021, for a series of highly successful tour dates worldwide.
Between 1975 and 2023, he recorded eighteen studio albums, including some with Tim Finn, formerly of Split Enz and Crowded House, and Andy Mackay of Roxy Music.
In 2006, Phil produced David Gilmour's third and chart-topping album, On an Island. His other work as a producer included Split Enz's second album, 1975's Second Thoughts. The band supported Roxy Music on their 1974 Australian tour. Other collaborators include Brian Eno; Phil played guitar on his debut album, Here Come the Warm Jets, Pink Floyd, Steve Winwood and Robert Wyatt. He also co-produced Rod Stewart and Jools Holland's 2024 number one album, Swing Fever.
In March 2024, he published Revolución to Roxy, a memoir of his life, including his highly prolific career in music. Copies will be sold and signed at this event.
