PHI, en collaboration avec Film POP, présente au Cinéma Moderne la projection de 𝘚𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘐𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘗𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦 (1974), réalisé par John Coney.Ce film culte futuriste offre une odyssée visionnaire à travers des récits de réinvention identitaire noire, de cosmologie spéculative et de résistance culturelle. Ra, messager envoyé par les ancêtres, accompagné de son Arkestra, incarne un ambassadeur intergalactique chargé de téléporter la diaspora noire vers une autre planète. Au cœur de Space Is the Place, jazz et cosmos deviennent des espaces d’émancipation, de réenchantement du monde et de lutte.
Cette projection est organisée en parallèle à l’exposition 𝘑𝘰𝘴𝘦̀𝘧𝘢 𝘕𝘵𝘫𝘢𝘮: 𝘴𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘭 𝘰𝘧 𝘴𝘱æ𝘤(𝘪)𝘦𝘴, présentée du 10 septembre au 11 janvier 2026 à PHI, dans le cadre de la 19e édition de MOMENTA Biennale d’art contemporain.

PHI, in collaboration with Film POP, presents a screening of the film 𝘚𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘐𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘗𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦 (1974), directed by John Coney, at Cinéma Moderne.
This futuristic cult classic offers a visionary journey through stories of reinventing Black identity, speculative cosmology, and cultural resistance. Ra, a messenger sent by the ancestors, accompanied by his Arkestra, embodies an intergalactic ambassador tasked with teleporting the Black diaspora to another planet. At the heart of Space Is the Place, jazz and the cosmos become the site of emancipation, re-enchantment of the world, and struggle.
This screening is presented in conjunction with the exhibition 𝘑𝘰𝘴𝘦̀𝘧𝘢 𝘕𝘵𝘫𝘢𝘮: 𝘴𝘸𝘦𝘭𝘭 𝘰𝘧 𝘴𝘱æ𝘤(𝘪)𝘦𝘴, on view from September 10, 2025 to January 11, 2026, at PHI, as part of the 19th edition of MOMENTA Biennale d’art contemporain.
