Pfeiffer Beach Hotel, Richard Tripps, and Matt Nice & the Derls!

We'd like to think of the April 8th show at the Library as Big Sur's own Summer Jam at Watkins Glen.

Sure, it's not the summer, and sure, we don't anticipate 150,000 people will purchase advance tickets, but the differences end there.

After all, like Watkins Glenn, the bill will feature three bands . Better yet, *unlike* Watkins Glenn, all of the bands on April 8th are based Big Sur.

We've gone so far as to draw parallels between these performers and those from 1973:

Pfeiffer Beach Hotel, a buoyant and vibrant "family band" led by songwriter Nicholas Leahy, is the Allman Brothers Band.

With a penchant for mesmerizing jams and a dreamy baritone, Richard Tripps is the Dead circa '72 (if one considers Weir a baritone...and they backed up Lou Reed).

And the cozy laid-back grooves of Matt Nice & the Derls is reminiscent of the Band (and the Silver Jews!)

We admit, our analogy isn't perfect. In some ways, this works to your advantage.

For example, 600,000 people ultimately showed up at Watkins Glen, and I'd be shocked if there were enough port-o-potties. That won't be a problem on April 8th because our capacity is only 120 people.

Doors at 7pm. A $10-20 suggested donation to support the bands and the Library is greatly appreciated.
