Join us for a day of artistry at Willow Witt Ranch, with our special guest Zebith Thalden, the author of The Insect Artist! With art materials in hand, we will immerse ourselves in the spray of blossoms in the meadow to honor the diversity of species that these colorful botanicals depend on. We will learn about the scientific connection of this unique ecosystem, located in the Southern Cascades, with Amanda Huffman, a professional wildlife biologist with a passion for native bees. We will have plenty of time under the tent’s shade to learn creative techniques for developing bold realistic sketches in dynamic compositions with subjects that are busy buzzing from flower to flower!
This workshop is ideal for adults with a beginning to intermediate skill level. We will supply sketchbooks *, art supplies, and light refreshments.
A recommended supply list will be provided.
Feel free to bring additional supplies you’d like to work with, such as:
References (images or non-living species in a clear sealed container)
Pens, pencils, or paper
Portable folding chair or stool (optional) there will be seating available
Also, please bring:
Water bottle
Lunch
Clothing layers for always changing Oregon mountain weather
If you would like a copy of Zebith's The Insect Artist, it can be purchased with cash at the event (retail price $27.99). Please let us know how many copies you wish to reserve for purchase when you buy your ticket(s).
*Thank you to Central Art Supply for the sketchbooks!
We believe connection to nature and creativity should be within reach for all. If the $70 workshop fee feels out of reach, please send us a message through our contact form, limited financial assistance is available.
