Perth Rotary Luncheon | Megan Krakouer | NAIDOC Week | “Walking in the Shoes of Others”Naidoc Week Guest Speaker is Perth’s Citizen of the Year 2023, Megan Krakouer.
A Naidoc National Person Award Finalist Megan is a Menang Woman of the Noongar Nation. A renowned activist, prominent social justice advocate and arbitrator for the voiceless. Often a spokesperson on Australia-wide Media, including leading the memorial and seeking justice for the murder of schoolboy Cassius Turvey.
A Director of the National Suicide Prevention and Trauma Recovery Project. Director of the South-West Aboriginal Land and Sea Council, Megan holds a Bachelor of Laws from Deakin University. Megan has attended Perth Rotary on a number of occasions.
A recipient of the Dr. Yunupingu Award for Human Rights, her advocacy is wide ranging and tireless, “speaking is important but listening, hearing and acting are more so”.

National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee, NAIDOC, celebrates the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal people, by Australians across the Nation.
Perth Rotary is fortunate to have the Perth Citizen of the Year 2023, Megan Krakouer, as our guest speaker during Naidoc Week. Megan is also one of three finalists in the National NAIDOC Person Award. A renown activist, prominent social justice advocate and law reformer, Megan is Director of the National Suicide Prevention and Trauma Project. The 13th child of 13 siblings Megan is a Bachelor of Laws.
