Iranian folk music is a vibrant and diverse tradition shaped by the country’s vast geography, centuries-old history, and mosaic of cultures. From the Caspian Sea to the Persian Gulf, every region tells its story through melodies passed down by ear and heart. Folk music in Iran accompanies life’s major events—birth, love, celebration, mourning, and spirituality. It reflects both the collective memory of people and the specific rhythm of their everyday lives. This musical tradition remains a vital part of Iranian identity, often performed in local dialects using region-specific instruments. HamAva Band brings together a diverse group of musicians with deep personal and professional ties to music. Many members have heritage rooted in different regions of Iran, each with its own distinct musical identity and centuries-old traditions. From the rhythmic pulse of the south to the melodic richness of the north, their collective background adds depth and authenticity to every performance. Some were raised in musical families, while others discovered their craft through academic and cultural exploration. Their combined talents span instruments like the Setar, Tar, Daf, Santoor (dulcimer), guitar, Tombak, and violin, as well as traditional Iranian vocals. With backgrounds in art, education, anthropology, and performance, they unite classical training with contemporary interpretations, sharing Iran’s musical heritage with both Iranian and non-Iranian audiences alike.
