Come join us at the Centro Cultural De La Raza for an evening filled with music, laughter, and furry friends! Esteban Lira will be teaching us techniques to construct Perritos de Michtlan. It's a night you won't want to miss!

In Mexica folklore, Souls traveling to Mictlan encounter the first trial of Itzcuintlán, the “place where the dogs live”. These dogs help these souls who were kind to them cross the
Apanohuacalhuia River to the subsequent trial.
We will be making “Perritos de Mictlan” to place on the Ofrenda to help guide the Souls
to meet with living. These skeletal dogs will be made of pipe cleaners, skulls from air
clay, and a wood base.
