TREATMENT OF GINGIVAL RECESSION - BASIC & ADVANCED TECHNIQUES -
ObjectiveThe objective of the course is to introduce the attendees to the management of gingival recession defects, their etiology, classification and treatment modalities, from basic to advanced techniques.At the end of the course, the attendees will be able to identify and diagnose mucogingival defects, to know why and when to proceed with treatment, what outcomes can be expected depending on the patients pre-surgical status. They will also learn key communication narratives to help their patients understand the value of healthy gums. Attendees will learn treatment guidelines, how to perform different root coverage surgical techniques and harvest sub-epithelial connective tissue.
Lecture• Characteristics and classification of gingival recession defects.• Etiological factors.• Treatment strategies and prognosis.• Microsurgical instrumentation.• Coronal Advanced Flap: different flap designs, indications.• Connective tissue harvesting procedure• Tunneling technique
Hands-on (on animal jaw models, provided microsurgical instruments)
supported by Hu-Friedy• Full and partial thickness flap management.• Coronally Advanced Flap technique (classic and modified technique).• Connective tissue harvesting techniques.• Tunneling technique.• Different suturing methods.
About Dr. Olivier Carcuac:
Graduated (DDS) in 1998, Dr Olivier Carcuac received his certificate as a specialist in Periodontics (MSc Clin Perio) in 2008 and the degree of Odont. Dr. (PhD) in 2015 from the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. Board Certified Periodontist, he currently works in 3 private clinics, MyDentalClinic, ConfidentDubaiPalm and DrJoy in Dubai, UAE. He is Research Associate at the Department of Periodontology, The Sahlgrenska Academy at University of Gothenburg, Sweden, where he is also involved as a teacher in the undergraduate and postgraduate program.
Dr Olivier Carcuac is Key Opinion Leader for Hu-Friedy and member of the editorial board of Clinical Oral Implants Research and serves as a referee in several other journals. Speaker in many international congresses, Dr Olivier Carcuac has written several scientific publications within the field of dental implants and periodontology. Dr Olivier Carcuac’s research includes peri-implant biological complications, their etiopathogenesis, and treatment, in both pre-clinical and clinical settings.
Passionated for aesthetic periodontal procedures as well as aesthetic implant dentistry, he has been lecturing around the world on periodontal plastic surgery and management of soft-tissue around teeth and implants.
