Perimenopause is an extended period of time in women's lives during which our bodies undergo many significant changes. Perimenopause can start as early as your 30s. It's so much more than just not having a period any more. And, because it accompanies a major change in our hormonal makeup, it affects our bones, skin, hair, metabolism, mood, cognitive ability, sleep, sex drive and more.
Join Planned Parenthood of South Texas and yoga teacher Lesley Ramsey for an afternoon centered on how to identify, understand, and address the many changes you're experiencing. The session is free! And we're giving away copies of the indispensable guide to these changes, Menopause Manifesto by Jen Gunter.
What to Expect:
Validation & Community: A safe space to share, listen, and realize that what you are feeling is a normal, shared biological journey—not something to hide.
Mindful Movement: Gentle, adaptive yoga postures specifically chosen to soothe the nervous system, cool the body, and support bone and joint health.
Breath & Regulation: Simple, effective breathing techniques to help manage sudden anxiety, hot flashes, and disrupted sleep.
Somatic Connection: A chance to reconnect with your body with kindness and curiosity, rather than frustration.
Up to Date Information from Lois McGuire (she, her, ella), a Certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner and North
American Menopause Certified Menopause Practitioner. She has 26 years of experience working at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota in the Department of Gynecology.
Note: No prior yoga experience is necessary. Come exactly as you are, in whatever clothing makes you feel comfortable.
