Perfumery 101: Hands-on Perfume Making Workshop

This workshop will introduce participants to the fascinating world of perfumery and guide them through the process of creating their own unique fragrance.

Target Audience: Beginners with no prior experience in perfumery.

• Safety glasses and gloves
• Perfumer's blotters
• Selection of high-quality essential oils and fragrance materials (categorized by fragrance notes)
• Pipettes and weighing boats
• Glass vials and atomizers
• Perfumer's alcohol
• Labels

Workshop Outline:

Introduction

• Welcome and introductions
• Brief history of perfumery
• The art and science of fragrance creation
• Olfactory training: Introduction to the different fragrance families (citrus, floral, oriental, etc.) and proper smelling techniques.

Perfume Anatomy & Construction

• The Fragrance Pyramid: Understanding the different fragrance notes (top, heart, base) and their role in a perfume's development.
• Fragrance concentration explained (Eau de Toilette, Eau de Parfum, Perfume Extract)
• Safety considerations when working with essential oils

Hands-on Perfume Creation

• Guided selection of essential oils and fragrance materials based on desired fragrance profile.
• Introduction to dilution techniques: Participants will learn how to safely dilute essential oils in perfumer's alcohol.
• Experimentation and Blending: Participants will have time to experiment with different fragrance combinations to create their own unique perfume.
• Resting and Refinement: The perfume creations will need to rest for a period of time to allow the notes to meld together. Participants can revisit their creations and make adjustments if desired.

Final Touches & Take Away (30 Minutes)

• Labeling and presentation of the finished perfume
• Q&A session
