About this Event
Perfumer covered: Sophia Grojsman
Perfumer Dana El Masri explores the perfumers that defined the classic and modern perfume industry. In a series that celebrates artistry of fragrance production - and with a focus on perfumers with 20+ years of experience - these sessions will trace the careers and output of influential artists and movers in the field. Each session allows participants to learn their perfume history through research and direct experience, and explore the impact of individual style on the field of fine fragrance.
Each perfumer-oriented session starts with a brief biography of the perfumer studied. Perfumer Dana El Masri then covers the arc and art of the perfumer's style throughout their career, showcasing and distinguishing the elements that make up the perfumer's unique DNA -- even when working across projects and in different genres for different brands.
Please note! In this class, Dana covers information about perfumer styles. This is, in many ways, an evaluation class. We focus on the perfumer's biography and output while exploring the general DNA of a perfumer’s style. We will not be creating, compounding, or sharing take-home samples of the perfumes discussed in class.
TOPICS COVERED:
- Perfumer's biography
- Important examples of the perfumers' work
- Overview of the perfumer's impact on classic, contemporary, mass market, and/or niche perfumes
Materials: There are no materials required for this class. The information and teaching materials presented in our classes are for educational purposes only. For more information about commercial best practices and safety, consult the relevant authorities in your country of residence.

ABOUT THE PERFUMER SPOTLIGHT SERIES: INSTRUCTOR'S NOTE
"As a perfumer and perfume fan, I have always been fascinated by perfumers' creativity and imagination. In perfumery school, they taught us that the mark of a great perfumer was a distinctive style. This is a chance to explore the uniqueness of each perfumer, how he/she changed fine fragrance as we know it today, and to learn more about what materials they use to create wonders!" - Dana El Masri
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Cancellation Policy
When we host a class or workshop, we often order the materials to be used in the class well in advance, based on how many people have signed up (and padding a bit for safety). We also use class proceeds to pay our teachers. Although we realize that life has a funny way of getting in the way of the best laid plans, as a small non-profit we cannot afford to carry the burden of lost proceeds and materials. With all that said, here’s our refund policy for in person classes!
– Cancellation with refund or credit requests made 1 week or more (7 days) before the scheduled session will be honored with gusto! We’ll miss you, but will 100% refund your spot.
– Refunds or class credits requested less than 7 days before the scheduled session: We will refund you 50% of your class fee. Why? Because we’ve already ordered the materials.
– Refunds or class credits requested less than 48 hours before the class, on the day of the class or after the class has happened will not be granted.
– Cancellations or refund requests must be made by email (hello@artandolfaction) or via the Eventbrite ‘request refund’ option.
Note also that event tickets are non-transferable.
Location: The IAO is wheelchair accessible. Note there is a small 1" lip at the threshold of the space. See how to find us and where to park here: http://artandolfaction.com/visit
