On November 7th, 2025 the International Museum of Surgical Science will present Resonant Chambers, a night of audio visual performances by Kari Watson & Lou Mallozzi (Duo), David Bird (Solo) and Kelley Sheehan (Solo).

Kari Watson and Lou Mallozzi bring together assemblages of analog and digital electronics, juxtaposing disparate materials towards the creation of live sonic and visual collage, uniting unexpected source materials and sonic artefacts to evoke strange assemblages and associations of space and place, all furthered by the historied cavernous halls of the IMSS. David Bird presents Gradient Field, an evolving live audiovisual performance practice that unfolds within a real-time 3D environment. Guided by a series of generative systems, it emerges as a shifting landscape of audiovisual grains, continuously transforming in density and texture. Kelley Sheehan traverses a selection of analog electronics and circuits, building live systems and structures that become collaborative in real time. Together, the three performances transpose and transform the halls of the IMSS via three different audio-visual approaches.

Kari Watson (they/them) is a Chicago based composer, performer, and intermedia artist working between the mediums of contemporary concert music, electroacoustic music, live performance, and interactive installation work. Watson’s concert music and performance practice alike explore issues of tactility, physicality, attunement, and drama in immersive sonic environments, often incorporating electronics as mediators to and/or extensions of the human body.

Lou Mallozzi is a Chicago-based interdisciplinary artist whose performances, installations, and sound works have been featured internationally, including at the MCA Chicago and the Venice Biennale. He co-founded Experimental Sound Studio and is a professor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. His work and research have earned him numerous fellowships, residencies, and recognition as one of NewCity’s foundational Chicago artists.

Kelley Sheehan is a composer and electronic musician moving between electro-acoustic, multimedia, and performance art works.
In any medium, her work constructs environments meant to merge electronic and acoustic forces into one composite organism, dependent on this merging to become more than just an extension of itself. Her work focuses on sculpting noise, shifting materiality, housing structures, and machinery.

David Bird is a composer, producer, and intermedia artist whose work explores the dramatic potential of electroacoustic and multimedia environments, often highlighting the relationship between technology and the individual. His compositions have been performed at venues including Walt Disney Concert Hall and Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, and featured at festivals such as the Gaudeamus Festival, Donaueschinger Musiktage, Wien Modern, and the MATA Festival, among others. His work has been praised by The New York Times, The Wire, and Best of Bandcamp.
