About this Event

Performance Lab is a series of workshops and mentorship sessions designed to provide technical frameworks, artistic inspirations and practical guidance needed to translate concepts directly onto the stage.

Over the course of three specialised workshops and a dedicated mentorship day, this series guides participants through composing, building and dramaturgy their own sound work. The journey culminates in a live public showcase at Acker Stadt Palast, where you will have the stage to share your experiment with an audience.

15/08 - Composing a live performance with Berenice Llorens

We approach real-time composition as a process in which structure emerges through improvisation, the use of sound banks, and the continuous transformation of sound material, developing our tools through the very act of performance. 16/08 - Sound Dramaturgy with Lutz Gallmeister

In this hands-on workshop, we will practice finding the balance between sound and scene, using tools from other art forms to create a dramaturgy, and start creating a soundscape for a drama, performance, or art work.

29/08 - Case Studies on Instrument Building Samaquias Lorta

The possibilities in sound art is arguably its defining feature. Toys, tools, cables, resonators, amplifiers, chips, and the vast array of gadgets let us shape the sonic stories we want to tell. This workshop will explore various artist setups to discover the paths to instrument building. By dabbling the toolkits of these artists one can find endless possibilities in creating sound. Students can expect both theoretical analysis and hands-on examples.
