Ready to unleash your inner action hero?
Join us for a fun Stage Combat workshop with one of the Azimuth Theatre Co-Producers’ Morgan Yamada! In this class, you’ll learn or brush up on the essential skills of stage combat, like falls, punches, and slaps. And don’t worry, we’ll always prioritize your physical safety and well-being so you can perform like a pro, show after show.
Morgan will guide you through the basics of choreography and show you how to tell a story through movement. It’s a fun and collaborative lab where you can meet and interact with other cool people, regardless of your experience level.
Just wear comfortable clothes and bring a water bottle, and you’re all set.

About your Lab Instructor
Morgan Yamada’s (she/her)
Morgan Yamada's family roots extend from Germany, Japan, and many other places, all meeting in amiskwaciwâskahikan, also known as Edmonton. Here, she is proudly one of Azimuth Theatre’s Co-Artistic Producers, where she leads with a commitment to inclusive curation, collaboration, and arts education.
With a strong background in physical-based theatre and new work development, she brings her varied experiences as an actor, fight director, administrator, and arts educator to every project. She has performed as an actor in theatres nationwide as part of award-winning ensembles.As a fight director, Morgan has collaborated with high schools, universities, and professional theatres, choreographing stage violence and teaching workshops and courses. She prioritizes sustainable practices and artist agency, fostering communication and ensemble support in all her projects.
A University of Alberta BFA Acting alum and a Fight Instructor with the Academy of Fight Directors Canada, Morgan has worked across Canada, contributing to award-winning ensembles.Morgan’s role at Azimuth Theatre allows her to blend her artistic vision with her dedication to creating inclusive, collaborative environments.
