Lynn Barnett, a Cursillista and "Boundless Compassion" facilitator, will be speaking on self-compassion. In simplest terms, self-compassion is responding to our own hurts, disappointments, and stresses as we would to a friend in need. It involves treating ourselves with understanding, patience, and respect, rather than self-criticism. When we choose this path, we find that we have more energy, insights, and skills to be present to others who need us. This program was developed by Sr. Joyce Rupp, noted author, speaker, and retreat director. The format for this program will include some basic information on self-compassion, a DVD of a talk given by Sr. Joyce, several guided meditations and practices, and small group discussion. In addition, each person will receive a packet of hand-outs on the topic.
