People's emergency briefing film screening
About this Event
Join us at Sappho's Cafe for a film screening of Chris Packham's new film The People's Emergency, followed by a creative workshop to help us reflect on our thoughts.
In November 2025, the National Emergency Briefing brought together leading experts to present the latest evidence on the climate and nature crisis to politicians and other influential people in Westminster. Now this vital message is being screened across the UK, bringing together people from across local communities to hear the evidence and discuss how to respond.
If you are worried that this might be doom and gloom, fear not, it is pretty uplifting, and there will be creative crafts, lovely people and cake too. It will be fun we promise!
As far as we are aware this is the only screening in the UK that is aimed at specifically a queer audience. LGBTQ+ and allies are all welcome to join this safe space to consider the climate emergency and how our queer identities might intersect. If other climate spaces feel daunting the hope is that this one won't be. Do come along with friends or on your own, you'll find welcoming people to sit and chat with.
This film screening is being hosted in the lovely Sappho's cafe, and so is also being a mini fundraiser for this great queer community space. If you feel able to donate to Sappho's Cafe it would be really appreciated!
