It’s easy, in this moment, to feel a little helpless. As the Executive Branch consolidates power at breakneck speed. Firing thousands of federal workers, cutting entire agencies, undermining the rule of law. Threatening, suing, deporting, and defunding critics. And our elected officials in Congress do nothing.
It’s easy, in this moment, to wonder, What can I do as just one person?
And the answer is hidden in the question: join others asking the same thing.
On the 19th, between 120 and 150 people attended a town hall in Davenport, asking questions to empty chairs and talking about solutions in the absence of our elected officials. The event was organized following a "people's assembly" event on the 11th, attended by 55 people.
The best way to defend our democracy is to act like we’re living in one. That means realizing that we’re not alone—and acting accordingly. That means not simply resisting our current set of problems but creating an alternative.
Please join us Saturday, March 29, as we organize a public, nonpartisan people’s assembly to share ideas and build power together. See you there!

Note: We're especially looking to have people from Illinois at this event since the two events listed above both occurred in Iowa. But people in Iowa are of course still welcome. People from across the river are always welcome!
