People Handling Training

The course will be delivered as face-to-face, classroom training, at our premises.

Mandatory Pre-Requisite:

Before attending the course, it is mandatory that you possess a full Guardian Safety Manual Handling certificate issued within the last three months.

Who Should Attend: This course is designed for healthcare workers who need to be trained to safely move and handle patients under the Safety, Health, and Welfare at Work 2005 and Manual Handling Regulations 1993 and 2007.

Course Duration: 9:30 AM - 1:00 PM

Course content:

• Relevant legislation

• Information on the spine, how it works, how it is inured, and how to keep the back healthy and prevent injuries

• Ergonomics

• People handling assessments and handling plans

• Principles of safer handling

• Demonstration and practice of a range of manual handling and people-handling techniques

• Problem-solving

On completion of this Patient Handling course participants will be able to:

• Recognise a load that is too heavy or awkward

• Understand the limitations of the spine and muscular system

• Conduct a patient-handling risk assessment

• Lift and handle patients safely.

The course is highly interactive and will use practical assessment and interactive learning throughout the course.
