On October 10, TRCB is hosting a day of presentations and discussion about architecture, landscape, cross-disciplinary practice, teaching and research at the beautiful Living Edge Showroom in Queen Street, Perth. Please join us for a day of collaboration and engagement between disciplines, practices and WA’s Schools of Architecture.

Explore how design research, ethical practice, industry and academic engagement and cross disciplinary collaboration can drive the evolution of architecture in Western Australia and beyond.

If you are unable to join us for the whole day, you are very welcome to join us for either of the morning or afternoon sessions.

Kerstin Thompson

KTA is a leading innovator and creative force in Australian architecture and urban design. Kerstin Thompson is the founding Director of KTA, and in 2023 she was awarded AIA Gold Medal.

Andrew Boyne
Western Architecture Studio

Andrew Boyne is a Perth-based architect whose work reflects his deep interest in the relationship between nature and architecture. His award-winning Celilo Springs House in Mount Lawley is a superb essay in minimalist construction and absorption in reconstructed nature.

Katherine Ashe
vittinoAshe + Senior Lecturer, Fremantle School of Architecture, UNDA

vittinoAshe is an award-winning studio committed to architecture through the medium of making. Personal involvement in handcrafting their projects and a love of detailing directs their design process and enhances the quality of their architecture. Katherine’s teaching reflects the value vittinoAshe place on research to inform creative practice.

Daniel Jan Martin

Daniel Jan Martin is an environmental planner and designer working in south-west Australia on Noongar Country. He is a Lecturer in Landscape Architecture at The University of Western Australia. He also co-leads the collaborative practice, Super Natural. Between conservation and design, Daniel’s practice and research centres ecosystems and water systems. Through compelling environmental communication, his work aims to share, translate, and advocate.

Professor Sue Anne Ware
Curtin University

Curtin University recently appointed Professor Sue Anne Ware as its new Head of School of Design and the Built Environment in the Faculty of Humanities. With her background in landscape architecture, Professor Ware’s extensive award-winning research and creative works straddle the worlds of design and activism, with a focus on how people — particularly disadvantaged communities — interact with built environments.

Barry McGuire

Barry McGuire is a Balladong, Wadjuk, Noongar who is highly regarded as a public speaker, facilitator and negotiator. He is a cultural consultant for Perth Transport Authority and Perth International Arts Festival, an advisory board member of the Black Swan Theatre Company of WA, a board member of the Minderoo Foundation and a Patron of Fremantle Press.
