Pentagram String Band with Swamp Rats and and TBA
About this Event
The Pentagram String Band (often referred to as Johnny Lawhorn and the Pentagram String Band) is a Kansas City, Missouri-based "satanic bluegrass" group. They blend traditional acoustic instruments (banjo, mandolin, upright bass, and washboard) with gothic folk, punk, and thrash metal to sing about M**der, misery, and the joys of death. The band was forged in the underbelly of the American folk scene by Johnny Lawhorn, who fronts the group on vocals, banjo, and guitar. Known for their DIY ethic, gritty aesthetic, and intense, theatrical live shows, they have built a cult following while continuously touring the United States and Europe.
Swamp Rats takes intricate clawhammer banjo and blends it with a driving punk rhythm fronted by gritty & soothing harmonizing vocals. Some have said the music sounds like a type of haunted that makes them happy. Folk with an edge is what most people say about Florida's "Phantom" folk band Swamp Rats.
