Started and led by vocalist Penni Layne and bassist Larry Jackson, PLWB is a group fueled by soulful vocals, catchy choruses and horn lines reminiscent of the R&B greats of the 60’s with a modern feel and production style. Since it's inception, PLWB has performed through out New England at clubs and festivals, they have recorded one full length album and one EP of original music. They have also teamed up with the talented Serbian producer / trumpeter Andrija Gavrilovio aka A.N.D.R, to remix and re-imagine some of their singles. And their song, "I Know You're Mine" was featured on Boston's 92.5 The River, on the Home Grown Music Showcase.
Penni, from Virginia and South Carolina, began her professional music career as a teen performing all over the DC area. After being accepted to Berklee College of Music, she made the move north, completed her degree, and would became immersed in the the New England music scene, performing in many of the region’s most illustrious venues, including The TD Garden, The Wang Center, and Boston's Symphony Hall. Although she is well versed in every genre of music, her heart has always been drawn to the R&B / Soul sounds of her youth.
Larry hails from the entertainment hub of Las Vegas, NV. In his teen years, he studied with the seasoned professionals who worked the Las Vegas strip, learning all styles of music. He also began performing there, alongside those who taught him, and after graduation, was accepted to Berklee College of Music on a jazz scholarship. While at school, he flourished in big-band writing and arranging as well as performing. After graduation, he worked with a variety of bands, in every style of music, all throughout New England, winning 3 Boston Music Awards along the way.
