Join artist Natalka Barvinok on a journey in creativity with Pencil Work: The Summer Courtyard!The aim of this workshop is to guide participants in creating a vibrant and detailed depiction of a summer courtyard. Through this process, they will learn to work with color layering and blending techniques, while also capturing the delicate balance between architectural features and lush natural elements.
During this 3-hour session, participants will start with an introduction to basic sketching techniques, focusing on how to compose a scene that harmoniously blends architecture with nature. We will then explore the use of colored pencils to add depth, texture, and vibrancy to their work. The workshop will cover essential techniques such as:
Layering and Blending: Participants will learn how to effectively layer colors to create rich textures and seamless transitions, mimicking the interplay of light and shadow in a courtyard setting. Composition and Perspective: Guidance will be provided on how to structure their drawings, ensuring that the composition highlights both the grandeur of architectural elements and the delicate beauty of surrounding foliage.
Detailing and Finishing Touches: The final part of the workshop will be dedicated to adding intricate details that bring the scene to life, from the weathered texture of stone steps to the delicate petals of blooming flowers. This workshop is designed to be accessible to artists of all levels, offering both beginners and experienced individuals the opportunity to enhance their colored pencil techniques and develop a more nuanced understanding of outdoor scenes.
