Total Therapy Studios are pleased to introduce our new Pelvic Floor workshop with Lindsay Taylor. Many men and women suffer silently with Pelvic Floor Dysfunction often due to its deeply personal and often embarrassing nature, but more often than not because we believe it’s something that we just have to live with. Pelvic Floor Dysfunction is on the rise and despite more research in this field in the last 10 years, and there many outdated practices still being offered.
This workshop is therefore aimed to educate and offer practical and workable solutions to help men and women of any age suffering from bladder, uterine, rectal or post pregnancy prolapse, incontinence or stress incontinence or pain related to the pelvic floor.
Lindsay will guide you through a two hour exploration of your pelvic floor drawing from her own experience and will cover:
- Why education in regard to the pelvic floor is necessary
- Contributing factors to pelvic floor dysfunction
- Over active versus under active muscles of the floor and the implications for exercise
- How the pelvic floor affects the core mechanics
- Pelvis and spine alignment
- The mechanics of breath, core and the pelvic floor
- Understanding Intra-Abdominal Pressure
- Finding the correct muscles and correct contraction of the pelvic floor group
- Pelvic floor coordination in movement
- Exercise & pelvic floor loading
- Functional pelvic floor strength
- Are Kegals doing more harm than good?
Lindsay is an experienced Pelvic Floor Pilates Specialist, whose own personal journey post pregnancy led her to specialise in educating and treating men and women all over the world with realistic and achievable solutions to manage their pelvic floor.
