About this Event
Join Natalie Ainscough from Adelaide Orthoptics for a 1 hour 30min online session where we will discuss Peli Prisms application in Homonymous Hemianopia.
Peli Prisms is a method of increasing a patient's awareness into their blind visual field by utilising high strength fresnel prisms, expertly positioned so that it doesn't interrupt the patient's primary position viewing. This method doesn't create cortical level change in occipital cortex, but simply provides another adaptive methodology for the patient to lean on to use their remaining vision to the maximum.
It is important to note that this isn't the low vision strategy for everyone, and therefore it is important that the clinician makes some important decisions prior to proceeding including; appropriate patient selection, risk/benefit discussion, selection of the right field expansion methodology and overall program are designed around the patient's specific needs.
