The Army Corps of Engineers is hosting a public engagement meeting on a 2024 Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the Pearl River Flood Risk Management Project for Hinds & Rankin Counties, MS. Four flood control alternatives are presented: "A1" (non-structural); "C" dam and 1500 ac. lake; "D-CTO" channel dredging, new weir & smaller lake; "E-CTO" channel dredging, no weir, no lake.Healthy Gulf opposes further damming on the Pearl, and will ask the Corps to advance a plan that is environmentally acceptable and economically justified. Make you voice heard at a public meeting to be held in Jackson, MS.
