Peace in Nature: Opening Event

For the first time in over a year and a half, will be displaying artwork in a gallery space! We want you to be there.

About the show:

Peace in Nature

Artreach artists have spent the summer making art en plein air, social distancing out of doors, looking for inspiration and well-being in nature. And they found it!

Mohegan Park (Norwich), Camp Harkness (Waterford), Avery Point (Groton) and the Groton-New London Airport were the locations where our artists explored the elements, focusing on land, sea and sky. Some artists were inspired by their own backyards, as they attended virtually. Together their work makes up Peace in Nature.

Artreach's master teaching artist led the art workshops and curated this exhibit.

Also, for the first time, artwork from Artreach’s first poetry publication Creativity Heals: Art and Poetry from Artreach (Volume 1) will be on public display. A project that continued despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the zine-format book was published in summer 2020 by .

Peace in Nature will be on display from September 10 through November 15 and can be viewed during ’s normal business hours. The exhibit is free to attend. Masking and social distancing required.

Celebrate with us!

Join us for an opening event on Friday, September 24th from 5-7 pm.

Due to COVID, we’re going to have a walking tour of the exhibit, limiting the number of people inside the gallery at any given time. Artreach artists and staff will be on hand, stationed throughout the exhibit to share information about the show, and to answer any questions. The Artreach Jazz Band will be playing, adding to the ambience. Weather permitting, there will be a reception on the outdoor patio, with individually-packaged refreshments.
