Conceived by pianist Paul Giordimaina, the jazz trio SFERA was formed right after the pandemic restrictions were lifted. Based on Giordimaina’s new compositions and his lineup of choice, the trio started rehearsing and quickly found common footing, giving life to a set of songs that range from poignant ballads to more playful tunes. The band features Oliver Degabriele on double bass and Guze Camilleri on drums.
This wide palette of colours is a direct homage to Charles Gatt, the late founder of the Malta Jazz Festival, to whom SFERA’s debut album is dedicated.
