Acclaimed saxophonist, composer, and arranger Paul Booth joins forces with Strictly Smokin’ Big Band for a unique reinterpretation of the Beach Boys’ seminal album, Pet Sounds. This project is the result of Booth’s deep admiration for the 1966 classic. Initially transcribing the entire album note for note, he then set about reimagining it for a full big band, unlocking fresh textures and possibilities while preserving the essence of Brian Wilson’s visionary compositions. With Booth at the helm, this performance breathes new life into Pet Sounds, staying true to the heart of the original while reshaping it for the power and versatility of a big band. Following its premiere at Ronnie Scott’s, London, this marks only the second-ever performance of Booth’s stunning new arrangement. Expect the familiar melodies of Wouldn’t It Be Nice, God Only Knows, and Sloop John B, now elevated by the full force of a dynamic jazz orchestra.
