About this Event
💫 PATTERN CUTTING CULTURAL CONNECTIONS BETA LAUCNCH
A workshop for people raised between cultures, ready to reclaim their story 💥
This is a 4 day pattern cutting course to design + pattern cut a garment that connects you to your heritage & culture. It is a opportunity to weave parts of yourself that haven't had space to be explored into your lifes story creating a deeper sense of 'home' and belonging.
You will design your garment, and learn pattern cutting techniques to bring it into reality. We will cover how to; critique a design, dart manipulation, adding volume, gathers & pleats, toiling & fitting your design. You will need to bring a block of your choice to work from.]
There will be one online zoom session (date tbc), where Geri will guide you through a Self Enquiry practise to meet 'Parts' of you connected to your heritgae. This deeper journey will help weave their voices, memeories and stories into the tapestry of your life creating new contentment, wholness and inner fulfilment. Expect it to feel like a warm cosy comfroting blanket around your shoulders 🤗
You will leave our time together with;
- A unique design connecting you to your heritage
- A workable pattern ready to be made up in final fabric
- A calico toile of your design that we have fit & amended
- A deeper connection to your heritage & culture as well as yourself
- New friends from different cultures
Skills required
Experience with a sewing machine, stitching together a garment & using sewing patterns. This course is suitable for beginner+ level, & those wanting to begin learning the basics of pattern cutting.
💫 You will also be required to put together a mood board of inspiration from your heritage; such as clothing, shapes, colours, nature, architecutre - what ever inspires you :) this will need to be done prior to our first day together. You can choose whether you want to do this online with tools such as canva, or in a scrape book with images printed out. You will use this as inspiration to create the design for you garment.
This course is split over two weekends in November 25
Saturday & Sunday 1st & 2nd, Saturday & Sunday 21st & 22nd. Please see 'agenda' for the breakdown of what you will learn on each day.

- Pencil (preferably mechanical)
- Rubber
- Tape measure
- Scissors (paper & fabric)
- Notebook
- Pattern cutting ruler
- Tracing wheel
- 2 meters of lightweight calico

- Pattern cutting curve
- Notcher
- Awl
- Sewing machine
About Your Host, Teacher & Mentor
Geri is a creative senior pattern cutter with 13+ years experience working in luxury fashion for brands such as The Vampires Wife, Victoria Beckham, Pringle Scotland & The OWN Studio . She is also a trained thearpist in hypnothearpy, somatic attachment thearpy, Ayurvedic digestion & nutrition and energy psychology.
She is passionate about teaching & mentoring as loves being able to pass her knowledge on and empower others in their mindset, creativity and skillset.
She has a relaxed and paitent approach to teaching, breaking things down in a simple way and making you feel at ease in the process.
The Nature Of A Beta Course
This is the first iteration of this course. (However Geri has taught many pattern cutting courses previous). Being part of the beta launch means you have the opportunity to shape the course which exciting! Geri is looking for honest feedback on how you found it. The price is a reflection of this and will go up post beta launch.
Payment & Total Investment: £280
To sign up to the 'Pattern Cutting Cultural Connections', please proceed by paying the £50 deposit. Following on from there you will recieve a email within the next 24hrs with futher details and an option to settle the remaining balance of £230 in full or in instalments.
