Three bands team up for an evening of live music and celebration in Manchester, headlined by transatlantic trio, A Different Thread.
Joining them are fellow artists Caitlin Gilligan and local troubadour Mr. Novembre, appearing with Conall Ginley and Hazel Whatson.
Doors open at 7:30pm - Tickets are £10 and available at adifferentthread.com or via the Ticket button on this Facebook event page.
Connected through the renowned Not A Cult music festival, where Caitlin curates a stage and has invited both artists to perform, these acts bring a diverse range of influences and heartfelt performances to 'Patchwork Shindig'.
Audience members are encouraged to bring a small square of cloth, or fabric to take part in a community art piece — a quilt symbolising unity, diversity, and creativity. Those who contribute are put into a hat to win the quilt at a later date.

A DIFFERENT THREAD
The story of A Different Thread began with a serendipitous meeting, busking on the streets of Galway, Ireland. Robert Jackson from Lichfield, England and Alicia Best from Durham, North Carolina. Their impromptu harmonies sparked a creative partnership that has flourished over eight years of independent music-making and relentless touring.
Folk Radio UK lauded them as “warm, deep songwriters” with “a strong, independent sound,” a testament to their word-smithery, which delves into themes of change, counter culture, travel, and the parting ways and reuniting that comes with a life on the road.
Known for their hair-raising vocal harmonies, intricate guitar, soulful fiddle, playful harmonica, and Alicia’s distinctive suitcase drum-kit, the duo has forged a minimalist yet powerful sound that resonates deeply with listeners.
A Different Thread are opposed to the fast fashion market! All shirts are crafted from up-cycled fabric. Audience members are also invited to bring their own clothing items for a personalised stencil design during the show.
CAITLIN GILLIGAN
Gallovidian folk musician, Caitlin Gilligan, hails from rolling hills and glens. Although now based in North-West England, her songs still echo the wildness of her youth and she has deep ties to Manchester.
Caitlin has played alongside artists such as Martin Carthy, Martin Simpson, The Unthanks, Sam Amidon, Rachel Sermanni, Emily Portman and Rachel Newton.
She played her debut Cambridge Folk Festival in 2019, where she was a selected highlight on The Den Stage. In 2022, she toured with the highly-acclaimed folk-supergroup Tarren for a run of Nest Collective gigs around the country.
2023 saw the recording of five original tracks at Wise Tree Studios in Liverpool, which is now available to stream, as well as nationwide gigs such as her sold out show at The Green Note in London.

MR. NOVEMBRE (TRIO)
Hailing from the Middle-East by way of France, Mr. Novembre plays impassioned contemporary folk mixing deft fingerpicking, spirited climaxes, and heartfelt lyricism, singing about love and self-discovery, with towering and cathartic performances.
