This workshop is designed for artists with some experience working with pastels. Having taken a previous class or workshop in beginner pastels or working with pastels on one’s own is a prerequisite along with basic knowledge of color and composition.
The supply list and class syllabus will be provided on registration. The students will provide their own supplies. As the recommended supplies will be specially ordered, students must register by 5 pm, September 12, 2025.
We will be working with professional grade pastels and university grade pastels. Any exceptions to the recommended supplies must be approved by the instructor.
The participant will complete 2-3 frameable paintings. Using photo reference images provided by the instructor, we will explore color harmony, composition, and “mark making” techniques.
The workshop will include:
• live demonstrations,
• class lecture,
• one on one instruction, and
• group critique sessions.
