The workshop and performance are an innovative solution to the catch-22 most musicians face while in the transitional stage between student and professional. By providing young musicians with the opportunity to perform principal roles in the second most performed opera worldwide we hope to fill the experience gap that serves as a roadblock for many young artists. We also hope that through their work with experienced professionals, young artists will gain valuable insight into the inner workings and standard practices of the industry in a collaborative and supportive environment.
Featuring stage direction by Arthi Nandakumar, and conducted by Gabriel Levy. About the artist
Tenor Ramon Gabriel Tenefrancia has established himself throughout the New York operatic scene as both a versatile singing actor and innovative artist/ producer. A graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, he has brought a diverse array of characters to life on stage most recently as Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni) with the Long Island Lyric Opera and March Hare/Card#2 (The Garden of Alice) with City Lyric Opera. As artist producer and recipient of the 2022 Staten Island Arts DCA Premiere Grant for his online performance, Art Song Anonymous, he reimagined the art song incorporating constructed art as a costume to facilitate storytelling and combat bias and racial prejudice. In December 2020, Mr. Tenefrancia joined The Philippine Independent Arts Ventures Inc. as executive producer and the tenor soloist in their online fundraiser production of Handel's Messiah that raised funds to provide food to impoverished areas in the Philippines that were severely impacted by the pandemic.
PASS: Performing Arts Salon Saturdays residency program is made possible through generous lead support from the Howard Gilman Foundation, with additional support from the Samuel I. Newhouse Foundation, and the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council. Snug Harbor is a proud partner with the CUNY Dance Initiative.
