Party at the Park/Celebration of Spirituals: Music of the Soul 2

In 1963, the fiery Reverend James Bevel and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. arrive at the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama, determined to ignite a movement and confront the deep-rooted racial injustice of the South. When Dr. King is arrested and church members hesitate to move forward out of fear, the campaign threatens to stall. In a bold and unexpected act of courage, thirteen-year-old Gwendolyn steps forward to volunteer to march. Despite objections from the adults, she rallies her friends and other children to take to the streets and march for freedom. Their bravery shocks the nation and changes the course of history, transforming not only Birmingham, but the entire country. With a second half as a tribute to the Negro Spiritual and South African Music lead the Vocal Music Department at the Detroit Youth Choir.
