About this Event
Party as Practice hosted by Yackez
1-3pm, Upper Gallery
Yackez is throwing a party! Join Yackez () & LMCC on the island long known as Paggank by the Lenape for the next installment of the series, Party as Practice. With this participatory performance, Yackez invites us to engage the art of coming together. We’ll explore just what transforms a gathering into a party. Is sitting together a party? Is dancing? How about hot tub, drum circle, talking, imbibing while vibing? Can party transform itself? Can we rest together? Maybe we’ll try a matinee party, a laugh out loud party, a party with beverages, a swaying in the corners party? Consider the all the possibilities of party! Led by Yackez we’ll coax a party into being and, together, we’ll experience the power of participation.
Formed in 2010, Yackez is the World’s Most Lovable Art-Pop duo of married couple Jon & Larissa Velez-Jackson. Jon is a songwriter, writer, and musician. Larissa is a choreographer, interdisciplinary artist, movement educator and a Foundation for Contemporary Art’s grant awardee in 2016 and 2022.
Tickets for Party as Practice are free and open to all. Due to limited capacity, RSVP is required to attend. Learn more about the Party as Performance series and the alumni artists at its center at LMCC.net/Party-As-Performance. Follow @lmcc_nyc for the latest.
