Come along this month to the Parnell Community Centre's History Club for a fascinating look into New Zealand’s early beginnings, with a focus on Rangihoua (Rung-ih-hoh-wah) and the arrival of the Church Missionary Society (CMS) in Aotearoa.We’re excited to welcome special guest Allan Davidson, historian and former lecturer at St John’s College and the University of Auckland. Allan will guide us through the story of Ruatara, Samuel Marsden, and the founding of the mission at Rangihoua in 1814, as well as the early interactions between Māori and missionaries.
Whether you're a regular or new to the club, this is a great opportunity to learn, share, and connect with others passionate about our local history.
1.30pm, - 3.30 pm, includes afternoon tea.
