About this Event
Cathedral Becomes Tomb is an audio-visual media expression from Wisconsin based multimedia artist and bassist Barry Paul Clark (adoptahighway, Tontine Ensemble, Field Report). The expression includes double bass in combination with electronically effected audio signals. Live performances are multimedia improvisations that utilize a mixture of projection imagery, film pieces and Barry’s own video footage, with a visual signal affected by the sounds being produced in the performance.
Genre can be implemented as a tool of organization and for the comfort of an unknown, so for genre category purposes, Cathedral Becomes Tomb shares sonic spaces connected to drone, improvisation, glacial maximalism, deep listening, and experimental electronic, with techniques derivative of contemporary chamber/classical music. https://cathedralbecomestomb.bandcamp.com/
Kenneth Tarek Sabbar is a Moroccan-American audio artist born in Kenosha, WI. His body of works covers of range of approaches—looping analog tape, techno constructed through modular synthesis, live-coding generative ambience, or granular resynthesis of recorded acoustic instruments.
Though disparate in his process over the years, the through-line is a careful construction of detailed textures—a “loud softness” that can be both confrontational but also demanding of a closer listen.
Apollo Vermouth is the creative brainchild of Alisa Rodriguez, who some may know as a current and former member of Operations, Sundial Mottos, and White Tropics. The music of Apollo Vermouth explores the sprawling and abstract, full of beautiful textures and layers. Her latest release, Forever Back There, was released in July of 2023.
