Parkscapes: Nature Journalling Workshops
About this Event
Parkscapes is a seasonal public art-making program that brings together neighbours around select Brampton parks. There, through accessible, all-ages, hands-on collaborative workshops, they strengthen community bonds and create temporary artworks and performances.
Every Thursday in July, join Brampton artist and educator Minoya Magendrathajan in Eldorado Park for a series of free outdoor nature journalling workshops. In these workshops, you will learn simple and accessible nature journalling techniques like drawing, watercolour, printmaking, and more that encourage curiosity, creativity, and mindfulness.
Weekly Workshop Themes:
- Thursday, July 9 - The Art of Noticing is an introduction to nature journalling.
- Thursday, July 16 - Pocket Landscapes is an introduction to watercolouring.
- Thursday, July 23 - Botanical Prints is an introduction to making plant prints.
- Thursday, July 30 - Mindful Observation is an introduction to soundscape mapping.
Join us for evenings of exploration, mindfulness and creativity. Bring the entire family and learn together!
This workshop series is open to drop-in participants. Please note, however, that it has been designed for weekly additive skill building and to support a community of returning participants. The workshop series continues in Churchville Park in August.
This workshop series is for all ages and experience levels. All materials will be provided and instruction can be given in English and Tamil.
Parkscapes: Routes in the Park is funded by an Ontario Trillium Foundation Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) Seed Grant.
