Park(ing) Day Afterparty: The Golden "Cohen" Awards

For one day every September, Lancaster reclaims its street parking spaces and turns them into public spaces.Parklets, art, gathering spots, and small experiments in what our streets could be.
Park(ing) Day is a chance to imagine more from the space we usually hand over to cars, and this year we're closing it out with a celebration!
Join Strong Towns Lancaster for the Park(ing) Day Awards Show and Afterparty, where we'll crown this year's best installations and hand out the coveted Golden "Cohen" Awards, our glitter-dipped parking cones for the creations that stood out most.
Our judges will spend the evening visiting installations across the city before gathering to make their final calls. Awards will be given in four categories:
- Best in Show
- Most Creative
- Most Lancaster
- Best "Draws Attention to the Fact that Too Much of Our Public Space is Taken Up with Car Infrastructure"
This year's judges are Josh Beltre with the City of Lancaster, artist Libby Modern, and Councilman Amos Stoltzfus.
Come hear from the people behind the installations, find out who took home a Golden Cohen Award, and stick around afterward for music, drinks, and good company with the folks who care about the future of Lancaster's public space.
The Evening
7:00 PM — Doors open for participants setting up
8:00 PM — Public arrival, mingling, music, and drinks
8:20 PM — Awards ceremony, with words from organizers, judges, and the winners
9:20 PM — Dancing, celebrating, hanging out, etc.
When: Friday, September 4th, 8:00 to 10:00 PM
Where: The Lounge at Hempfield Apothetique
