Parker Shper is a New York/Montreal based celebrated pianist, composer, and electronic musician whose work spans a wide breadth of contemporary music. With over 25 years of professional practice on the creative music scene — rooted in piano studies at McGill University’s Schulich School of Music, and the Academy of Music in Gothenburg, Sweden — he has developed a distinctive voice that moves fluidly between acoustic and electric piano, synthesizers, and layered soundscapes. He draws from jazz, neo-classical, ambient electronic improvisation, and experimental rock traditions. Featured on releases for such labels as Sony, Secret City, Merge, and Righteous Babe Records, his collaborations include tours and recorded projects with Richard Reed Parry (Arcade Fire), Leif Vollebekk, The Barr Brothers, Anaïs Mitchell (Hadestown), Georgia Anne Muldrow, Craig Finn, Patrick Watson, Little Scream, Land of Talk, and Akil the MC of Jurassic 5. He has contributed to film scores such as Sean Durkin’s “The Nest” and Cirque du Soleil’s “Worlds Away”, produced by James Cameron.
