About this Event
Teenage years can make the terrible twos look like a cake walk. Just when you think you're in the homestretch of parenting, comes some of the most challenging years. It can be a roller coaster of emotions, self doubt, and worry. It makes you question everything you thought you knew. Who is this person and why are they acting like this? Did I do the right thing? Am I failing as a parent? How do I prepare them for the world as an adult and still protect them as a child?
You are not alone and you are not failing. This group is for like minded parents who want to be involved and intentional in this trying transitional time or even those who just need to share and receive support from others who are going through or have gone through it.
I am a local artist, community coordinator, and founder of Made Space Seattle, a community event space. Above all I am parent of two (12 and 17). I have experienced parenthood through the lens of an abusive marriage, homelessness, single parenthood, and my child's mental health challenges. The teenage years are a time of balancing authority and autonomy. It can be some of our most challenging and self reflective work to guide our children through this transitional period. I strongly believe it is crucial to take time for self and to reach out to the village around you for support.
