Parenting With Mental Health in Mind
Stress, sadness, overwhelm, and other “big feelings" are normal responses to challenge and uncertainty. As parents we can err in one of two directions. We can overreact to typical ups and downs and create unnecessary anguish for ourselves and our kids. On the other hand, we can miss signs of mental illness and rob our children of the help they may desperately need, mistakenly writing it off with “they’ll grow out of it.” In this warm and engaging workshop, Erin Walsh will help parents and caregivers better distinguish between typical signs of stress and signs that you need additional mental health support. By showing support, love, and normalizing mental health issues parents can help overcome stigma and begin the journey to wellbeing.
